2018 OKFriends Homecoming Teens, Youth Camp

1. Program Overview
o Period ㅇ July 24 (Tue) ~ July 31 (Tue) 2018, 8 days
o Venue
ㅇ Seoul and Local Regions
- Teens : Seoul and 9 local cities
- Youth : Seoul and 3 local cities
o For whom
ㅇ Middle and High School students between ages 14 to 18(by July 24, 2018)
ㅇ University and Preliminary University students between ages 18 to 23 (by July 24, 2018)
※ Considering the different academic calendar in each country, 18-year-old pre-university students are allowed to choose the program to apply
o Total Number of Participants
ㅇ 500 Overseas Korean Middle and High School students
ㅇ 220 Overseas Korean University and Preliminary University students
o Qualification for application
ㅇ Global overseas Koreans; Middle, High and University students.
- Overseas Koreans who are legally overseas residents for more than 5 years
·National residents, permanent residents, Korean adoptees, children of multicultural families (including at least one Korean), descendants of Koreans, and children of Korean nationals.
- Those who are not in conflict with the laws of the host country
- Those who do not have physical or mental health problems in participating the full program schedule.
o Program contents
< Teens Camp>
ㅇ City Tour, Rural Experience, Traditional & Modern Korea Experience, Historical Sites and Major Facilities Visits
ㅇ Korean family homestay, Korean school experience, One-to-one exchange with domestic teens
ㅇ Cultural experiences, lectures and missions, social participation and sharing activities
ㅇ Testimonials and willingness presentation, evaluation and suggestions
< Youth Camp>
ㅇ Visit to major sites and facilities
ㅇ Discussion and training for leadership development
ㅇ Discuss global issues such as global citizenship, environment, and Korean unification
ㅇ Exchange with domestic university students and next generation leaders, volunteer activities, etc.
ㅇ Testimonials and willingness presentation, evaluation and suggestions
2. Application
A. Application period (Korea Standard Time)
ㅇ Individual application : Mar. 28(Wed)~Apr. 11(Wed), 2018
ㅇ Diplomatic office review : Apr. 12(Thu)~Apr. 20(Fri), 2018
ㅇ Arrival of documents after Diplomatic office review : Only applications arrived before April 23, 2018 (Mon) will be counted
B. Documents for submission
ㅇ Required documents (Write in Korean or English directly on the online application screen)
① Application form (including photo), Permission to request personal information and consent to use
② Self-introduction Letter (written either in Korean or English)
※ Clearly state the place of birth and period of time living in the current country
③ A copy of the Certificate of enrollment or Admission letter
(Upload directly to the online application screen)
ㅇ Optional Documents (Direct upload to the online form)
① Special skills. Award document (copy of certificate etc.)
② Recommendation letter (from the principal or counselor)
※ Email, phone number, and contact information must be accurate
(Notification of selection results, announcements including schedule and program information will be frequently send via email)

ㅇ Guide for online application
① When connecting via the Overseas Korean Foundation website (www.korean.net)
- Individual applicant : ID/PW Login (Apply with the ID with the name of the applicant) → 재단사업 → 초청사업 → Choose the Teens/Youth Camp willing to apply (click the “사업신청(apply)” button) → Fill the forms and upload the different documents → Save(applicants are able to correct/change the form until the date for submission) or Submit(after submission you will not be able to correct/change information)
② When connecting via the official OKFriends Camp website (http://okfh.korean.net)
- Individual applicant : ID/PW Login (Apply with the ID with the name of the applicant) → 캠프소식 → 캠프알리미 → Choose the Teens/Youth Camp willing to apply (click the “사업신청(apply)” button) → Fill the forms and upload the different documents → Save(applicants are able to correct/change the form until the date for submission) or Submit(after submission you will not be able to correct/change information)
3. Selection and support
A. Selection target
ㅇ Middle and High School student (currently enrolled) : between ages 14 to 18 (by July 24, 2018)
ㅇ University student (currently enrolled, and pre-university students) : between ages 18 to 23 (by July 24, 2018)
※ Considering the different academic calendar in each country, 18-year-old pre-university students are allowed to choose the program to apply
B. Number of Participants in North America : total 155 (120 for Teens and 35 for Youth)
C. Notice of Result
ㅇ Notification to the local government (diplomatic) office of the applicant, online homepage of Overseas Koreans Foundation(www.korean.net), and personal e-mail
D. Criteria for Selection
ㅇ Students who have faithfully write motivation for application, and self-introduction letter
ㅇ Students who perform well in Korean society, residence area, school, etc.
ㅇ Students who are actively and willing to participate in this program and who are expected to grow as talented individuals in the future
ㅇ Students who will contributed to national development as descent of national merit Korean people (first review)
ㅇ Students who have excellent recommendations from the head of the local government (Diplomatic office), community leaders, and principals
ㅇ Comprehensive review of submitted documents
E. Benefits
ㅇ Airfare
- 50% airfare to all participants (Round trip, Economy basis)
ㅇ Expenses and Travel Insurance
- Accommodation, meals, vehicle and traveler's insurance for the duration of the program
4. Check results and other inquires
ㅇ (Expected) In early May, to be announced through Overseas Koreans Foundation website www.korean.net, and Participants will be notified by Diplomatic office.
