The Symposium for Korean Language Educators in America was held in Chicago on July 18, 2018 hosted by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea. It was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of initiatinn Korean language programs for elementary and secondary schools in the states and to expand the working network of Korean language education through collaboration with relevant organizations and instituties of Korean language education in the United States. Following the congratulatory address of the Consul General of Chicag, Mr. Lee Jong-kook, Mr. Kim Young Cheol, Planning & Coordination Officer of the Ministry of Education, and the Mr. Kee Choon, Vice President of the Korea Foundation for Overseas Koreans Foundation, participants dicussed Korean language education in formal and informal schools in the states. At the time of the discussion session Professor Shin Hye-young of the American University presented 'Current Status and Tasks of Korean Education in the United States' and the overall question and answer was followed. Participants expressed their desire to share information on the activities of Korean language education organizations in the United States through this symposium, and hoped cooperation among related organizations and government agencies to be enhanced for the bright future of Korean language education in the USA.
