GKS (Global Korea Scholarship)

Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)

GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) is a scholarship program supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea and implemented by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED), an organization under the Ministry of Education.

Beginning in 2010, various government-funded scholarship programs were integrated into a unified system known as the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). The program aims to promote international educational exchange, foster human resource mobility, and enhance mutual understanding among countries, ultimately contributing to global peace and development.

The Government of Korea particularly seeks to strengthen cooperative partnerships with developing countries by providing education- and human resource development–oriented assistance, drawing from Korea’s own experience in these fields.
